Sea Rose Studio
Judith and Elizabeth have been honored to
open their studio to students from Kennebunk
High School’s Apprenticeship for the Arts.
Over the years these students have
apprenticed and even been employed by Sea
Rose as designers and fabricators. Judith and
Elizabeth are very proud of their apprentices
achievements both in their studio and in art
school. Some of these students are; Rachel
Lindsey, Anthony Russo, Becca Grady, Nate
Jones, Cat Bates, and Sophie Hughes- just
to name a few!
Judith and Elizabeth do not cast their
pieces. Each design is a hand made
one-of-a-kind work of art.
Their designs are rich in organic forms
inspired by their studio’s scenic setting
in Limerick, Maine.
Sea Rose was started in 1982 by Judith Gilday in
Kennebunkport, Maine. Judith's daughter Elizabeth joined Sea
Rose and both she and Judith have been designing and
fabricating together for over 20 years.
Judith studied at the Kansas City Art Institute. She uses
different textural techniques such as fusing, reticulation and
granulation to achieve her unique organic forms. Elizabeth
studied art at the University of Southern Maine and enjoys
creating linear pieces, with an asymmetrical flair. Both Judith
and Elizabeth relish traveling the country in search of good
restaurants and unique fossils and stones to add to their pieces.
